Godspeed

Porcelain and inks relief sculpture

My final work, ‘godspeed’, is a black and white porcelain sculpture, depicting a person floating along a river. It tells the story of the continuous change one experiences as they live through life, and, simultaneously, the perpetual reminder of death due to rumination, evident through the substitution of black skulls for stones. The river is a symbol of life, as inspired by the song, “Moon River”. PVA glue and alcohol inks were spread evenly atop the ceramic base, to create the translucent and organic texture of water.
